- The Journal v1.34
- Copyright ⌐ 1996 David R. Michael
- All rights reserved.
-
- Before using this software, read the DISCLAIMER in the help file.
-
- INSTALLING THE JOURNAL:
- Decompress the archive into a temp directory and execute Setup from
- Windows 95 Explorer. The Journal works best in video modes 800x600 or higher
- with Small Fonts, but has improved support for Large Fonts.
-
-
- INSTALLING OVER VERSIONS v1.30 and later:
- NOTE: Do NOT uninstall the previous version!!!
- If this is an upgrade version of the Journal, simply decompress the archive into a temp
- directory and execute Setup from Windows 95 Explorer. The setup program will correctly
- place the upgraded components.
- If this is a full version (not an upgrade version) use the Custom Setup option and
- turn off the "Empty Data Files" option. Otherwise your existing Journal entries
- will be overwritten.
-
-
- INSTALLING OVER VERSIONS v1.0 to v1.21:
- NOTE: Do NOT uninstall the previous version!!!
- If you are installing over a previous version of the Journal use the Custom
- Setup option and turn off the "Empty Data Files" option. Otherwise your
- existing Journal entries will be overwritten.
- I have changed my database configuration from v1.21. Specifically, I am no longer
- including only the Partial BDE (Borland Database Engine). Instead, I am including
- the full BDE package. This will allow the Journal to coexist more peaceably with
- other software (e.g., Paradox).
- There is a DOS batch file included with the Journal, CLEARBDE.BAT. Launch this batch
- file from Windows 95 Explorer or File Manager. This will remove unnecessary files from
- the Journal folder.
-
-
- SPECIAL NOTE TO LONG-TIME USERS:
- The default install path has changed since v1.1. This is due to my finding
- that I was using someone else's company name. Thus, the default directory is
- no longer:
- C:\Program Files\DRM Enterprises\The Journal
- It is now:
- C:\Program Files\DavidRM Software\The Journal
- If you are installing over a previous version, I recommend to verify the
- install directory. I do not recommend moving your existing installation to
- match the new default.
-
-
- REGISTERING THE JOURNAL:
- The Journal is Shareware-ish. The un-registered Journal can be used for as long
- as you are willing to put up with the nag screens and mildly limited functionality.
- Should you decide the enhanced functionality is worth the price, you must then
- register the software with DavidRM Software.
-

-

- full version number) and I will send you the Validation Key which will remove all nags
- and limitations. If you include your email address, you will receive the Validation Key
- much quicker.
